Nangzhig Monastery — The Radiant Realm of Yungdrung Bon

The Sacred Origin of Nangzhig: The name "Nangzhig" originates from a profound spiritual realization in the Tibetan language, meaning "The complete extinction of all illusions and delusions." This marking defines the very beginning of the temple's lineage.

Nestled beautifully within the borders of Waerma Township, Aba County, Sichuan Province, the monastery stands just 2 kilometers away from the county center, sprawling majestically across an expansive area of approximately 170,000 square meters.

The Peak of Sacred Heritage: Housing a spiritual community of more than 1,300 residing monks and lama practitioners, Nangzhig Monastery holds the ultimate prestige of being recognized as the largest active Yungdrung Bon monastery both domestically and internationally.

As an ancient sanctuary dedicated to the pristine preservation of the centuries-old Yungdrung Bon lineage, the entire complex showcases exquisite architectural masterworks and traditional sculptures full of local distinctiveness.

A Thousand-Year Lineage: With a glorious history stretching back over 1,000 years since its founding, the light of Dharma has never flickered. From the legendary first generation—Dopa Yundan Gyaltsen of the Nangzhig Tsang—the sacred lineage has been flawlessly passed down to the present 39th generation of Dharma Kings.

Today, His Holiness Dharma King Garang Luozhou Jianco Rinpoche serves as the chief Abbot and supreme spiritual head, with Nangzhig Monastery acting as the glorious mother temple of the lineage.

Global Mandala and Mission: The spiritual branches of the mother temple extend far and wide, commanding over 300 subordinate temples and meditation retreat centers distributed throughout Tibet, Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, Hong Kong, Nepal, India, the United States, Canada, and beyond.
